S Upstairs

This may be one of my favorite spaces. I have no idea why I first thought "MURPHY BED!" when I saw this space but I did. My clients have three grown children who come visit from time to time. Their home already had a dedicated guest room and a den that had a sofa bed. They wanted a dedicated office but also needed another guest room. This seemed to hit both points. I designed the layout to suit both needs. The lamps are on swing arms and once the shades are removed, fold flat and accommodate the mattress when the bed is folded up. We also added duplex outlets on both sides for guests to charge their phones as well as use them for alarm clocks. The bottom drawer of the dresser was designed to fit the lamp shades as well as the bed pillows (decorative and sleeping). The outlet and over head lighting in the mirrored area are set up on their own fuse so all three daughter-in-laws can dry their hair at the same time without the house going dark. The casters on the chair make moving it out of the way a breeze. A desk chair turns into a place to put on shoes in a matter of seconds.
